Ever since the wreck I put on some serious miles on the Goldwing. I started off with approximately 4000 miles which was one of the driving factors for buying the bike.

As of today, I clocked in over 26,000 miles which is a hell of a lot miles for anyone. Even with commuters driving their cages it’s a lot of miles.

Today marks the one year anniversary of my accident. Time certainly has flown by. Just about this time last year I was laid out in ER.

A quick recap, I was going to work and traveling just North of Ione when a car tried to pass a row of cars. He went into my lane on the two lane road and clipped the left side of bike. The rest is a blur, I believe I counter steered out of a full head on. I went down an embankment, shot up through a barbed wire fence and flew approximately 40 feet and landed in an open field.

When I came to, the fire department, CHP and paramedics were already there standing around me. My adrenaline was so high I jumped up and immediately fell down. My left knee cap had torn off and was sticking out my leg.

I went through 3 months of wound repair, 3 times a week at Kaiser Stockton. My body was completely black and blue, cuts everywhere, internal.

Unfortunately the 2015 Goldwing did not fair well and is on the lift table being taken apart. I’m not sure what I will end up doing with that bike as it’s not a priority for me to get it back together.

In any case I’m heck of lucky and blessed.
